REVIEW

Lies, murder and mistrust all combine to make this a compelling series.  This boxset comprises of : Finding Allie, Chasing Allie & Keeping Allie.

This is the first romantic suspense series by Meli Raine – (aka Julia Kent) and is as well written and engaging as her other books.

Allie is a sweet girl who has had a tough life.  Being left in the care of her controlling stepfather, she saves every penny she can to escape his clutches, and although he has never cared for her he is oddly protective of keeping her innocence.  Chase is the tough bad-boy biker, but is he as bad as he appears?  There are definitely times throughout this book that I wanted to slap him, in fact Allie does at one point. I didn’t want to believe what I was reading and the emotions I felt on behalf of Allie shows the signs of a good author who can get under your skin with their characters.

There are some very romantic moments, and by this I mean hot, steamy intimate scenes.  There are also elements of  physical and emotional abuse. Although these are limited in their graphic descriptions, there are enough details after the events to imagine the pain and suffering caused to Allie.

With lies, secrets and surprises this series kept me gripped in the lives of the characters.  A must read for anyone who enjoys romantic suspense.

With the investigation still in full flow, Scarlet struggles to protect her new relationship whilst still tracking the clues.  Will she be able to hold it all together or will the secrets become more than anyone can take?

REVIEW

I received this book as an ARC review and really enjoyed it.  The characters are interesting and the chemistry between all three is sizzling.  The story is well written and is full of twists and secrets.  Scarlet is a woman who has had a tumultuous past. From the time she lost her parents in a tragic accident she has kept her heart sealed so that she would never feel that sort of pain again. Michael is similar to Scarlet in the heart department, whereas Sam is still recovering from the loss of the woman he loved. It takes all three of them to overcome their fears of love but together they are strong.

This is the third book in the series and although I have not read the previous stories it did not detract from the enjoyment of this one.  The female characters from books 1 & 2 make an appearance in this one and I will definitely be reading these and probably more by this author in the future

This is a menagé a trois with MF and MFM sex scenes.

Double Dose by Katie Allen

Speech therapist Daphne Dahl lived an uncomplicated life, keeping herself to herself wherever possible, but all that changed when the attractive stranger kidnaps her.

Ari would do anything for his mute friend Benjy, even kidnapping. Bringing Daphne to their remote hideout in an effort to find out why he wont talk should have been simple enough, but the more time they spend together the more his feelings for her grow. He knows that Benjy also has feelings for this new woman in their lives.

Daphne knows she should be scared, should attempt to get away at every opportunity but something stops her.  Is it the growl that comes from Ari or the sparkle in Benjy’s eye, either way she knows that there is attraction for not just one but both of these men. When the reason for their confinement makes an unwelcome appearance, Daphne will do everything she can to protect her men.

REVIEW

Finding yourself in a remote log cabin with not one but two big, handsome men, who wouldn’t want to stay?  Ari and Benjy, along with three other men, escaped a testing lab where they were essentially lab rats given bionic powers.  Following the process Benjy stopped talking…enter Daphne. Daphne has always been a loner, since she advanced two year ahead at school. Finding out her fiancé didn’t really love her and left her after stealing all his clients money, she vowed never to get attached again.

The story is interesting although the bionic powers took some getting used too. I did feel that there could have been more made of the two different plot points, her fiancé and the lab people.  Everything just seemed to come to a rushed end.  I won’t deny though that the sex scenes are hot. If you enjoy a bit of menage then you will definitely like this.

This book is the fourth in this series which had all previously been published under another name.  This book can be enjoyed as a standalone and although we are introduced to the characters from the previous books it does not impact heavily on this story.

Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC

Find Me – Corrupted Hearts #3 by Tiffany Snow

Twenty-four year China Mack had her life organised and that was exactly how she liked it, until events that she couldn’t control took over.

Vigilance gets shut down in the wake of an assassination attempt on the President. Clark turns up out of the blue needing her help to clear him as prime suspect.  And Jackson proposes. China’s ordered life hangs in the balance.

When the investigation into the President’s shooting leads to a military assignment that Clark was involved in six years ago, China , Jackson and Clark find they have to work together to stop an unknown assailant before he tries again, but it is not only the President who is in the firing line.  Secrets are unearthed that will effect everyone involved.

REVIEW

Brilliant! I am a huge fan of Tiffany Snow and once again she has had me on the edge of my emotions with the third instalment in the Corrupted Hearts Series.

China Mack has a very emotional time of it and for someone who does not deal in emotions it is especially hard for her.  Just when she thinks everything is settling down Jackson proposes to her and Clark returns after a three month absence, which sends her feelings into overdrive and she struggles with how to deal with it all.  When all three of their lives are threatened they have to work together, which is easier said than done.

The suspense and action along with the emotional drama and romance is to the usual high standard of this author. The story is fantastic and there are secrets that are revealed throughout this book which will effect all the characters and how they view each other. China finds out more about herself and receives some much needed guidance from an unexpected source.

I’m still sticking by my decision from my review of “Break Me” – TeamClark.  Saying that, I do feel an attachment to Jackson. He has shown his love for China every step of the way in the best way he knows how, but there is a quote from Clark relating to puzzle pieces that I agree with (no spoilers) and I think he has it right. The characters are so well written that in my mind they become real and I want everyone to be happy.  Such a shame she has to choose.

Great to see some familiar names back again.  If you have never read the Kathleen Turner Series then I would highly recommend it. Although it is not essential for the enjoyment of this series, there are some characters who appear within in this story and it would help the reader to make more sense of who they are.

Thank you to Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to advance read this.

And an even bigger Thank You to Tiffany Snow for writing it.

Stolen Series Box Set – Stolen #1-3 by Elisabeth Naughton

When an archaeologist and a thief cross paths no one can predict the adventures that will ensue.  Throw into the mix an art collector and an Egyptologist, and a form police officer and a detective, and you’ve got three stories of adventure, excitement, mystery and murder.

Stolen Fury

Dr Lisa Maxwell is on the hunt.  Unfortunately for her she is not the only one and when Rafe Sullivan seduces the relic out from under her she stops at nothing to claim it back. Teaming up to locate the other two Furies finds the pair sharing more than their desire for the ancient objects, as the heat turns up romantically so does the pressure to achieve their goal before others put a stop to them – permanently.

Stolen Heat

Six years ago Peter Kauffman walked away from the only woman he has ever loved.  It would be the last time he saw her alive…until that night.

Katherine Meyer did the only thing she could. She killed herself.  Not knowing who she could trust and her desire to protect those she loved she felt she had no choice, but when the threat returns her only option is to come out of hiding.  When her plans go wrong she has to learn to trust all over again but can she forgive and, most of all, can she be forgiven.

Stolen Seduction

Hailey Roarke first met Detective Shane Maxwell when he tried to protect his sister, Lisa. Unlucky for him he came face to face with PC Roarke and ended up flat on his face. Meeting him again at Lisa and Rafe’s wedding caused the same tingly feelings she had the first time but when he leaves without a word she is determined to put him behind her.

Following the death of her father and his bizarre Will requirements, Hailey takes over as CEO of Roarke Resorts and follows the stipulations within but with the rest of her family also chasing the same ornaments things soon turn ugly. When Hailey finds herself as prime suspect in the death of her cousin it takes a familiar face to help prove her innocence and help her in tracking down the answers that have been hidden from her all her life.

REVIEW

Excellent series that combines adventure, murder, mystery and romance.

The stories focus on one set of main characters although, with the exception of Kat, each of the other characters are connected and appear in all three books.  Lisa and Shane are twins, Rafe and Peter are long term business partners, and Rafe and Hailey used to be married. The stories themselves are interesting and full of action, there is no sitting still for this lot of explorers. Each story contains a treasure hunt of sorts that turns to devious and murderous intent when someone races against our heroes to beat them to the final prize.

The characters work well together even though they probably shouldn’t due to their differences but I think that helps to bring them together.  Lisa and Rafe are a great couple and I admire Lisa’s ability to be able to have Hailey as a friend considering she was previously married to Rafe and admitted that she still loved him.  I guess when you are secure in your relationship and the love for your partner then no one else matters.   Pete and Kat where destined to meet again and the animosity he feels towards her for the last six years is understandable. Finally there is Hailey and Shane who have only met a couple of times in the six months that these books are set, but have an undeniable connection.

These stories are a good read if you like some action with your romance.  I will be reading more from this author in the future.

Unwanted Protector

Tony has had enough.  He knows deep down that Jane is his mate but something keeps telling him she is not.  When Jane disappears while on vacation Tony is determined to track her down and finally make her his.

Being kidnapped was not part of Jane’s original vacation plans, neither was finding the small girl who tugged at her heart strings and made her rethink her entire outlook.  Tony turning up to rescue her was also not in her plans.  When team members and family members start to arrive out of nowhere, Jane must face the truth and allow her relationship with Tony to take it’s natural course but when others intervene all could be lost.

REVIEW

I really enjoyed this series and loved the way the characters worked together and built their personalities over the course of the books.  It is highly recommended to read all three as the final book brings the whole story to a head and gives meaning to why the team has been worked the way it has.  All the couples are great and have very distinctive characteristics.  The mating of each couple is powerful and full of sex…be warned there is lots of sex in these books!

Besides the sex the story lines are very strong.  Starting with the investigation into a serial killer, then a missing family member who everyone believes is crazy, to finish with aliens.  They are well written and engaging and I will be reading more by this author in the future, probably the Paranormal Dating Agency Series

Mystery at Maplemead Castle – The Chapelwick Mysteries by Kitty French

Ghostbusting is never easy.  For Melody Bittersweet it is only made harder by her ex, Leo Dark, and her love/hate nemesis, Fletcher Gunn.

When the new owners of Maplemead Castle employ Melody’s special services she becomes embroiled in the lives of a trio of circus performers (and a lion!).  Trapeze artist, Britannia Lovell, is stuck with her husband and her lover in a repeating performance that has lasted a century. Melody and her ghostbusting team have to find out what is keeping the trio from moving on, but when Leo because bewitched by Britannia her job just gets a whole lot trickier.

Things are also heating up between Melody and Fletch, much to the disapproval of her friends and family.  What is a girl to do?

REVIEW

Hilarious! Melody is back on fine form in this second book in the series.

I think what I like most about Kitty French’s writing is that she is completely British.  The language that she uses is so familiar. Words such as bumholes, boffed and crappola make me feel right at home.

The comedy mixed with the romance mixed with the mystery makes for an entertaining and very enjoyable story.  I really want Melody and Fletch to work out but I’m not sure if the author will ever get them together due to their differences.  If only Fletch would open up his mind a bit and see Melody for the wonderful person she is and if only Melody would get over the fact that Fletch can be a dick sometimes!  The connection and understanding that Melody has for Leo during this mystery is lovely but I do think he deserved the little dig she gives him at the end about broken hearts.

The Fembots made an appearance but did not play as much of a part in this story and I’m not entirely sure I understand what their relationship with Leo is, either way they are no match for Marina and her spiked heels.

The only point I found slightly annoying about this particular story is the continual miss spelling of Britannia’s name.  Sometimes spelt Britannia and others Brittania.  I know it is a small point but it is something that should have been picked up during editing.

Brilliantly funny.  The antics of Melody, Marina and Artie just gets better.  Looking forward to reading the next, with the hope of a little more loving between Melody and Fletch.
