Redemption River – Men of Mercy #1 by Lindsay Cross

Hunter James had loved and lost.  He left her behind and joined the military becoming a hard, cold man who accomplished every mission…except the last.

Returning to Mercy, his hometown, was not in his plans and neither was using his ex-girlfriend for information.

Evie Videl had only seen the man who broke her heart a few times since he left five years ago, each time with his latest conquest on his arm.  She vowed that she would never let a man break her heart or break her spirit again.

When Hunter returns to Mercy and wants her back she is almost too scared to hope. But can she trust him again and can he trust her?

REVIEW

I was pleasantly surprised by this book.  I have read many books with the big alpha male coming to the rescue of the girl he loves but the twists and turns within this story made me want to find out more.  The two main characters have great personalities and work well whether they are fighting against each other or giving into the burning desire that they share. Evie has had it tough and and life with her ex-fiance was far from easy but when Hunter returns to Mercy her life becomes even more complicated. She has loved Hunter since high school and he has loved her too and despite what happened in the past the connection has never broken but due to circumstances neither dares to act on the impulses.  When you can feel the connections through the words on the page then you know you can get lost in their worlds.  I found that with this book.  There were a few points that I found a bit unbelievable and over the top but on the whole the story line was exciting and the characters entertaining.

We are introduced to many characters that I know will have their own book and I am hopeful that the stories will be as gripping in those as this one was.
