Kathleen Turner, runner for a law firm, part-time bartender and girlfriend of senior law partner Blane Kirk, has been trouble-free for the past six weeks. That all ends when threats are made against her and her life is once again in danger.
Being a former SEAL, Blane could not pass up the defense of a fellow SEAL accused of the wrongful death of an American citizen while on deployment. It would appear, however, that someone is not happy with Blane defending him and uses Kathleen as a target.
With no-one else he trusts with her safety, Blane calls on his brother, Kade Dennon, FBI turned assassin, to act as bodyguard. Neither Kathleen nor Kade is happy with this relationship but as they work closer together emotions are strained and feelings of attraction on both sides are bought to the surface. Can they be close without being close? or will someone take Kathleen from both Blane and Kade?
Excitement, action and suspense, throw in a little romance, a little deceit and whole lot of sexy male testosterone and you have yourself a book that you won’t want to put down. Kathleen has found her happiness but how long will last, especially when you bring Kade into the mix to shake things up a bit.
Although I took an instant liking to the character of Kade in the first book, this was definitely the one that had me firmly on TeamKade! I know that Blane is just doing his best to try to sort out a bad situation but his complete lack of communication with Kathleen sets me edge. It’s no wonder she reacts the way she does, ice-water would be the least he’d have to worry about if it was me, and don’t even get me started on the following incident (you will know what I mean when you read it). It does strike me though that Kathleen is a tiny bit (ok, a lot) hypocritical with regards to her continued reference to ‘the incident’ considering what she did. I shall say no more on the matter for fear of spoiling it for you. Enjoy this second book in the series.
